Microdermabrasion VS. Dermaplane: November 2016 at Oleander Aesthetics

Microdermabrasion VS. Dermaplaning:  Which one is right for you?

Whether you just want to maintain the healthy skin you already have or you have some skin issues you’d like to improve upon, regular facial treatments can help. When considering advanced facial treatments, microdermabrasion and dermaplaning are two of the most popular options available. While they are both forms of mechanical exfoliation, there are some separate benefits to consider when making your choice.

Microdermabrasion.  It gently exfoliates the skin using a diamond tipped wand. The wand has varying sizes and coarseness for different skin types, as well as, has the ability to reach different depths for resurfacing and suction. The wand tip is made of natural diamond chips, which gently and effectively polishes the skin and removes dead cells.  It also aids in reducing the appearance of large pores, fine lines, and wrinkles. Speeding up cell production, it works well for congested skin.
*Not for those with rosacea, broken capillaries, excessively dry skin, or severe acne.

Dermaplaning is also an exfoliation procedure and is performed with an aesthetic tool held at a 45-degree angle and lightly passed over the skin in a scraping motion. No pain of any kind! It removes layers of dead skin cell buildup along with "peach fuzz" from the face.  As it is a manual non-chemical procedure, pregnant and nursing clients  can receive it without worrying about the side effects associated with some ingredients in chemical peels.
*Not well suited for deep lines and wrinkles or skin with irregular texture. It’s also not for use for severe acne.  It’s best for mild acne, dry to normal and mild to moderate fine lines and wrinkles.

Either Treatment may be performed alone or added on to any Facial, Hydra-Flow Facial and most chemical peels.

These treatments are ideal to refresh and renew skin that is aging, congested, flaky, dry, devitalized, thickened, blemished, dull and sun damaged.  Blotchiness, uneven skin tones and texture will also be improved. Even normal skin can be made to look fresher with a warm glow for all your upcoming holiday parties.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!
